Hotels
The conference organisers have suggested two hotels – see below. Hotel room bookings should be made directly with the hotels and paid for by the individual.

The conference period of 1/3 of July is a very busy period in Iasi due to many events including university entrance examinations.

1. Hotel UNIREA ***
Website http://www.hotelunirea.ro/
The organisers have obtained a favourable room rate for a single room of maximum 60 Euros. The rate includes VAT, daily local tax and breakfast.
For a double room the rate is around maximum 79 Euros.

If you decide to book with this hotel please quote the following in your email reservation: TULIP Conference organised by the Technical University Gheorghe Asachi of Iasi.
You can make the reservation by emailing rezervari@hotelunirea.ro

Depending on the number of room bookings made by delegates there may be a small discount on this price. But the deadline for reservation under this offer is 15 APRIL 2009.

2. Traian Hotel ****
Website http://www.grandhoteltraian.ro/istoric_en.php
Current (February 2009) single room rates are shown at 69 Euros. This is inclusive of VAT and breakfast but NOT the local hotel tax.
You can make the reservation by emailing reservation@grandhoteltraian.ro

Optional Social Programme
On Friday afternoon 3 July there will be an optional social event organised.
This cultural trip in and around Iasi will take in cultural monuments , churches and old university buildings (Iasi is the town of 100 churches, one of the first Romanian universities established in 1860, and also has other interesting administrative and museum locations from the XIX century).
The half-day trip will cost between 10 - 15 Euros per person.

If you are interested, please contact Professor Gabriela Atanasiu directly as soon as possible on gmatanasiu@yahoo.com and pre-book a place on this trip.

The cost for this social event will have to be paid in cash at the registration desk of the conference ON ARRIVAL. Please do not pay in advance to TULIP.
Note: If there are not enough participants for the trip it will have to be cancelled.

If there are sufficient people who wish to visit the North/ Eastern Monasteries of Romania, located within a distance of 150 km from Iasi, Gabriela’s team could arrange a one day trip on Saturday 4th July. The trip will leave Iasi at 9.00 and return at 18.15. The cost will be between 35 - 40 Euros per person including the cost of a guide, transportation and lunch. BUT there has to be a minimum number of 8 people (or multiples of 8 people) in order to arrange this visit. You MUST pre-book this visit with Gabriela by end of March 2009.

Conference Papers are available on the conference papers webpage
